Our Motorcycling Future?

An electric supermoto, Quantya, the manufacturer also have a motocross and enduro version. Not sure if the supermoto is actually released yet or not, but if not, is coming soon.

Following info is gleaned from forum posts concerning the street legal Strada (the enduro looking version). Pricey at about 10k but awfully cool. I've read various claims to range from 25 miles to 40 or so, and at least on the Strada a governed top speed of a little over 40mph.

Torque is supposed to instantaneous and the thing is a wheelie monster.

This thing really intrigues me.

Hey Woode,

I think electric motorcycles will fill the semi urban rider niche very well. The stealth will open new riding opertunites.

As you are into vintage bikes, Where there any electric models produced in the early days of motorcycles?

I agree whole heartedly re: semi-urban niche and especially the stealth factor. There are many places around where I live that would be a hoot to ride, or setup an outlaw supermoto race or the like if the bust factor was not so great, mainly because of noise.

I'm most impressed with the "engine" performance they are getting. That was one thing I have worried with if we were to have to give up our internal combustion engines any time soon.

I am into vintage bikes from an interest point, but don't actually have any. I do own what I would call more classic bikes heralding from the 60s and 70s. I am part of a team which puts on a charity rally each that attracts a good number of vintage machines. Check out our gallery at http://harvestclassic.org

I'm not aware of any electric powered vintage motorcycles, but it wouldn't surprise me if Tesla had an idea for one. I'll look around a bit and see if I can find anything.
